"Right now, we are talking about field hospitals that would provide the basic medical care required for war trauma," Goren told Reuters. "Field hospitals can, potentially, be equipped to provide specialised medical care, given their modular structure, but this would be further down the line. The charity Medical Aid for Palestinians on Thursday described the situation in hospitals as "beyond catastrophic" with dwindling fuel, packed corridors and many medics themselves bereaved and homeless. We are doing everything possible to get more humanitarian aid in," he said, adding that the limitations on aid trucks entering Gaza were down to logistical challenges, not Israeli restrictions.

"In the coming week we were planning to increase dramatically the amount of assistance" headed for Gaza from Egypt, said Colonel Elad Goren of Cogat, the Israeli Defence Ministry agency that coordinates with the Palestinians. "We have marked a humanitarian zone in the southern Gaza Strip in the Khan Younis area ... we still recommend that the civilian population that evacuated will go to this zone," he told media during an online briefing. Goren did not say whether the humanitarian zone was new or an existing area.

Most of Gaza’s water comes from local sources – but the fuel required to pump and clean it is fast running out. As the water system collapses, some Gazans have been forced to drink dirty, salty water, sparking concerns of a health crisis and fears that people could start dying from dehydration. Without it, Gaza’s water system has crumbled. Gaza’s fuel supplies could be exhausted in as little as 48 to 72 hours, Ghunaim, from the PWA, said on Monday. "We got ready to come to school and when we arrived we didn't find the school," student Mohammed Ibrahim told Reuters. Israel has often cited a lack of building permits, which Palestinians and rights groups say are nearly impossible to obtain, in destroying Palestinian structures in the West Bank, an area it captured in the 1967 Middle East war. The Gush Etzion Regional Council, which represents a nearby block of Jewish settlers in the West Bank, welcomed the demolition.

JERUSALEM, March 24 (Reuters) - Tens of thousands of Muslim worshippers flocked to Jerusalem's Al-Aqsa Mosque on the first Friday of Ramadan for noon prayers, which passed peacefully amid tight security imposed after months of escalating tension and violence. "I cannot describe to you how happy I am to pray at Al-Aqsa Mosque. I'm 50 years old and they only recently removed the security ban that had prevented me from coming here," said Nasser Abu Saleh, a resident of the West Bank city of Hebron. The Muslim Waqf, custodians who manage the site which houses the Al-Aqsa Mosque, said around 100,000 people had visited for the first Friday prayers of Ramadan. REUTERS/Ibraheem Abu MustafaGAZA, Jan 5 (Reuters) - Gaza's Health Ministry accused Israel on Thursday of delaying the entry of several X-ray machines needed to treat patients in the blockaded Palestinian territory. Dozens of other X-ray machines were allowed into the impoverished coastal enclave during the same period. Abbas said Israeli assertions about the medical equipment having dual uses were a lie. The ensuing blockade limiting the amount of goods crossing in and out has crippled Gaza's economy and health care system, which suffers from a chronic shortage of hospital beds and medical equipment.

Ulterior, COGAT a impus restricţii parţiale asupra zonei de pescuit.Drept reacţie, militanţi palestinieni au tras alte patru rachete, principala ţintă fiind oraşul israelian Sderot. Două dintre aceste proiectile au fost interceptate de sistemul israelian de apărare Iron Dome, iar un al treilea a căzut în Fâşia Gaza. A patra rachetă a căzut în câmp deschis, potrivit media locale, citat de agerpres.În cursul dimineţii, COGAT a anunţat închiderea completă a zonei de pescuit.Începând de vineri seară, 40 de proiectile au fost lansate dinspre teritoriile palestiniene în direcţia Israelului. Atacurile au urmat confruntărilor între israelieni şi palestinieni înregistrate săptămâna trecută la Ierusalim.Mişcarea palestiniană Hamas, care deţine controlul de facto în Fâşia Gaza, a anunţat în august anul trecut o încetare a focului cu Israelul, în urma medierii de către Qatar. Acest acord a fost însă încălcat în mod repetat.Hamas este clasificată drept organizaţie teroristă de Israel, SUA şi Uniunea Europeană.
